Well I’m officially 17 weeks pregnant which means my pregnancy journey is well and truly underway. And it also means I have to rethink my plans for 2016 – like cancelling our annual holiday to Vietnam over the school holidays…damn!!!
I’m disappointed because Bella and I love Hoi An. We’ve been there a few times, initially on the recommendation of my Aunty Trix who loves to travel. Hoi An is in Central Vietnam and is recognised as a world heritage listed site by UNESCO. Although July is low season (prices are much cheaper) the weather is really hot – like 38 degrees hot! But I absolutely love that weather and Bella spends most of her time in the pool so it’s perfect for us. We’ve stayed both in Hoi An town at the Vinh Hung Riverside Resort & Spa and also right on the beach at the Golden Sand Resort & Spa Hoi An. Both spectacular resorts with amazing, friendly staff. I wrote a blog about our first holiday a few years back and can’t wait to go again. But with a new baby on the way in November my priorities have had to change – so sadly, no family holiday to Vietnam this year!!! But what I am doing is focussing on getting fitter over the next few months so a) I’m not so exhausted and b) I can have an easy (is there such a thing??) birth.
Anyway, instead of overseas airfares and cocktails by the hotel pool I’m using the holiday money to buy baby items that I actually need (like a pram/baby seat) and completing unfinished jobs around the house like getting rid of old outdoor furniture. I’ve also just started the process of converting Bella’s bedroom into a baby room which means a lot of stuff is going to the Salvo’s – who knew a 6 year old could accumulate so much junk??!
It’s a huge reality check making room for a new person in the family and a little bit daunting financially so I am allowing myself to dream bigger this year…about my ideal family car – the car I would buy in a heartbeat if I could afford to! I drive a lot for work and I have mummy-duties ferrying Bella and her friends to all their extra-curricular activities but I also love to get away on road trips. Particularly up North where it’s hotter and where I can get all important quality beach time.
My cousin and her family live in beautiful Exmouth and the drive up the coast from Perth is a magnificent one. It’d be such a great experience for Bella to see the WA coast and enjoy the drive over a leisurely 2 weeks stopping along the way at Dongara and Monkey Mia. I’ve been to both places a few times but what kid wouldn’t love to feed the dolphins in knee deep water at Monkey Mia. Amazing to think we have all these experiences just a few hours drive from Perth. So I reckon the BMW X5 ticks all the boxes for that journey and looks super cool too. I’d love to be able to buy one so I can take the family.
So that’s my Lotto dream…what’s yours??? bit.ly/1RVVnhD
